Amazon Games released a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming massively-multiplayer online (MMO) game, New World, introducing players to the Amrine Excavation, a five-player group battle mode. New World invites players to explore Aeternum, a “mysterious island that has been the source of fantastical legends.” The land has been infested with the Corrupted, Ancient and Lost, as well as strange plant beings called Angry Earth, and the main storyline tasks players with unraveling the mystery of the past inhabitants of Aeternum. Within the game, expeditions are five-player dungeons in which players will face dire threats, learn Aeternum lore including the source of the Corruption, expose the Angry Earth’s ulterior motives, reveal deeper menace behind the Lose and the secrets of the ancient Guardians. In the Amrine Excavation, players delve into a dig site at which a famous archaeologist and his team were last seen alive. As they journey deeper into the dungeon, they must discover what happened to the archaeologist and his team, as well as the Ancient technology they unearthed. Only one other expedition, the Garden of Genesis, has been announced so far, in which players venture to Edengrove to purge the Blight and restore the garden. New World is set to launch Aug. 31 for PC systems. Those who pre-order the game will have access to a closed beta starting July 20. Check out the trailer here: Photo courtesy of Amazon Games
