‘KNOCKOUT CITY’ OFFERS WEEKEND-LONG OPEN BETA
EA and Velan Studios have revealed plans for an open beta for their upcoming Battle Royale dodgeball game Knockout City.
Running April 2-4, the beta will be free-to-play, open to anyone who wants to participate, regardless of platform and will offer cross-play and cross-progression. Beta participants will receive two exclusive in-game rewards, the Beta Blue Booster Glider and the Beta Brawler Player Icon. Players who participated in February’s closed PC beta will have a chance to try out the exclusive beta gear early.
The beta will open at 6 a.m. PT on April 2 and offers players a chance to experience the Team KO, Face-Off and Diamond Dash playlists. Pre-downloads are available now.
A previous closed beta from Feb. 19-21 introduced several elements of the game, including the Moon, Cage and Bomb Balls, the Concussion Yard, Rooftop Rumble, Knockout Roundabout locations and a Team KO playlist. The open beta will build on that content, introducing the Sniper Ball, Back Alley Brawl map, 1v1 Face-Off, Diamond Dash playlists and new style options. In total, players will have the chance to experience four maps, five playable balls, three playlists and countless customization options.
Knockout City is also offering a free trial period beginning with the game’s launch on May 21, giving players a chance to try the title before they buy the full game. All in-game progress from the free trial will carry over for those who decide to buy the full game, but will not carry over from the open beta.
Knockout City launches on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Origin, Steam and Epic Games Store on May 21 It will be playable on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S through backwards compatibility features. The game retails for $19.99.
