‘MONSTER HUNTER RISE’ SHIPS 4M COPIES IN FIRST WEEKEND
Capcom revealed on Monday morning that Monster Hunter Rise, the Nintendo Switch-exclusive and latest entry in the popular Monster Hunter franchise, has shipped 4 million units in its first weekend of launch.
The figure does not make a distinction between physical copies sold and digital sales, though in previous sales announcements, Capcom has combined the two.
The milestone moves the Monster Hunter franchise as a whole to over 70 million units shipped, as Capcom reports “cumulative sales of the series exceeding 66 million units shipped as of December 31, 2020.”
The previous Monster Hunter release, 2018’s Monster Hunter World, shipped 5 million units in its first weekend of launch on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, reaching 16.8 million units shipped in its lifetime. Its expansion, Iceborne, shipped 7.2 million copies.
