AMAZON LAUNCHES NEW GAME STUDIO IN MONTREAL
Amazon has announced the opening of a new game development studio in Montreal.
The studio will be led by Luc Bouchard, Xavier Marquis, Alexandre Remy and Romain Rimokh, all previously members of the team behind Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six: Siege. The new studio’s first project, while not specifically named, will be an “an online multiplayer title based on new IP.”
“Building upon [eight] years of experience with Siege, we are excited to start with a blank page and the creative freedom to create a completely unique experience in the multiplayer space,” Marquis said.
This new studio is the first Amazon Games studio in Canada but the fourth under the label, joining a roster of offices in Seattle, Orange County and San Diego. The game publishing wing of Amazon Games also includes a new title from South Korean developer Smilegate RPG. The first Amazon Games title, New World, is scheduled to launch in August 2021.
