FAN CONTROLLED FOOTBALL SET TO CROWN INAUGURAL SEASON’S CHAMP
Fan Controlled Football (FCF), with which VENN has a distribution partnership, is set to wrap its first season with The People’s Championship on Saturday. The game serves as FCF’s Super Bowl, with the Glacier Boyz and Wild Aces facing off for the league champion title.
To celebrate the event, FCF will be introducing its first halftime show featuring rapper Young Petro. Other special guest appearances at Saturday’s event will include Quevo, Josh Richards, Griffin Johnson, Jack Settleman and SnowBikeMike. Additionally, NFL legend Joe Montana, NFL All-Star Richard Sherman and Kinda Funny manager Greg Miller will be featured on the livestream.
In addition to the halftime festivities, fans will notice two other changes to the FCF in its final game of the season. Halftime will be extended to 15 minutes (instead of the usual 10) and each half of play will also be extended to 30 minutes (from the traditional 20).
The FCF was built for a digital audience, allowing fans to call plays in real time on Twitch and the FCF app. Since the season’s launch on Feb 13., FCF has received more than 7.5 million total live views on Twitch. Additionally, FCF fans have racked up more than 2 million play calls, draft picks and league votes combined.
“We set out to give fans unprecedented access and control, something never done before in sports,” said Sohrob Farudi, FCF co-founder and CEO. “Our first season engaged fans all over the world and proved that our model and this league would thrive. Pumped to crown our first FCF champion on Saturday.”
The People’s Championship airs on March 20 at 5 p.m. PT.
