‘DEAD CELLS’ TOPS 5M UNITS SOLD, LAUNCHES DLC ON MOBILE

Dead Cells, the indie roguelike from Motion Twin and Evil Empire, has sold 5 million units worldwide. This includes 1 million mobile units sold in China since its Feb. 3 debut.

To celebrate, with mobile partner Playdigious, the studio is bringing The Bad Seed DLC to Dead Cells mobile on March 30 for $3.99.

The Bad Seed is the first major, paid DLC for Dead Cells, initially released on Feb. 11, 2020PC and console platforms. It offers players an alternate route early in the game, allowing the Beheaded to avoid the Sewers and Remparts in favor of a greener path.

The DLC brings two new biomes to the base game, the Dilapidated Arboretum and the Morass of the Banished. It also offers fresh weapons like the Scythe Claw and Rhythm n’ Bouzouki to slay new foes, such as the Jerkshroom and the Yeeter. Players who choose this path will have to face Mama Tick before moving on to the mid-run sections of the game.

Motion Twin and Evil Empire teased that a “custom run” feature is under consideration for future updates.
