In the wake of March 16 shootings at three separate spas in Atlanta, Georgia, which resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, PlayStation and Xbox have both issued public statements condemning an increase in violent attacks against the Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) community across the country.

On Wednesday, PlayStation pledged a donation to the Stop AAPI Hate organization, aimed at tracking and responding to “incidents of hate, violence, harassment, discrimination, shunning and child bullying against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the United States.”

“We are troubled by a recent pattern of violence targeting the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities,” the official PlayStation account tweeted. “It’s time to take action. SIE is making a donation to Stop AAPI Hate, and we hope you can too.”

Insomniac Games, Sony Santa Monica and Naughty Dog also commented on PlayStation’s tweet in support of the cause.

Microsoft also pledged to take action, tweeting “Acts of hate and violence continue to unfold, including yesterday’s horrifying attack on members of the Asian community. We’re angry and saddened, and we start today more determined to bring people together across the world to accelerate the work necessary to drive change.”

Phil Spencer, head of gaming at Microsoft, raised his voice on the issue as well: “Hate has no home on Xbox. Team Xbox is appalled by the violence and racism against Asian communities. For all Asian players and peers, I want you to know that we see you, we hear you, and we will and must do more together to #StopAsianHate.”

Bethesda, a subsidiary of Microsoft, also tweeted out support for #StopAsianHate, saying it “rejects racism in all forms and stands in solidarity with our Asian employees and the AAPI community. We will continue efforts within our organization and communities to help drive change.”

BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America tweeted their support for the AAPI community as well, encouraging fans to support #StopAsianHate and directing efforts to Stop AAPI Hate, Stop Asian Hate and Anti-Asian Violence Resources.
