JADE RAYMOND LAUNCHES INDIE STUDIO DEVELOPING NEW IP FOR PLAYSTATION
Jade Raymond, a prominent game developer for over 25 years, has announced the inception of a brand new independent studio, Haven Studios, and its first game will be a PlayStation exclusive.
A new post on PlayStation Blog penned by Raymond introduces Haven as “a place where we can practice our crafts without any barriers or impediments.” The decision to found a new studio came after Raymond, in her own words, realized “I need to get back to what I love doing most, and do so in a way that gives our team the freedom to explore, inspire, and create.” The blog also confirms that the studio will be working on a “unannounced IP” for PlayStation, though no other details were given on the project.
“We want to create worlds where players can escape, have fun, express themselves, and find community. We want to pour our passion into a project,” Raymond writes. “We want to make something wondrous for people to experience. Because we believe in the power of games to bring joy to people’s lives. And Sony does, too. Their commitment to excellence is unmatched. It’s why I couldn’t be happier for their backing and support.”
Raymond’s career began with Electronic Arts and The Sims Online before moving to Ubisoft, where she led the creation of the first Assassin’s Creed and executive produced both its sequel and other new IP, including Watch Dogs.
