‘SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE’ LIVESTREAM SHOWCASES NEW FIGHTERS PYRA, MYTHRA IN ACTION
After her reveal during the February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Xenoblade Chronicles 2’s Pyra and her alter ego Mythra were fully revealed during a livestream presented by franchise director Masahiro Sakurai on Thursday.
Pyra and Mythra are two characters in one, with Pyra’s fiery moveset focusing on power while Mythra’s lightning-based set centered around speed. Each character has unique special attacks and Final Smashes, all adapted from their abilities in Xenoblade 2. Players can change between the two at will using the Down B special command, as well as choose which of the two to start a battle with at the character select screen.
The duo’s stage is called Cloud Sea of Alrest, and is themed around the flying creature Azurda from Xenoblade 2. Many of Pyra and Mythra’s companions from the original game appear in the background as it soars through the sea, his back playing host to the manic Smash action. The stage will include all of the songs from the Xenoblade Chronicles stage Gaur Plain already in the game, while adding 16 more from Xenoblade 2 and its DLC Torna.
Also revealed during the event was the latest batch of Mii Fighter costumes available for download, which include Hunter Equipmen, a Felyne Hat and Rathalos armor from Monster Hunter, as well as Arthur’s armor from Ghosts n’ Goblins.
Pyra and Mythra, as well as the new Mii Fighter costumes, will launch on March 4.
