Epic Games has announced its acquisition of Tonic Games Group, the developer behind 2020 smash hit Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout.

Epic confirmed the acquisition in a blog post. Tonic Games Group has been “fully acquired” by Epic, the company confirmed to VENN, though no specific financial details of the deal were shared.

Epic also noted that Fall Guys gameplay will not be changing for fans of the game. “Epic will continue to invest in making the game a great experience for players across platforms. Your favorite colorful beans will still stumble through the chaos on PC, PlayStation, and soon Nintendo Switch and Xbox,” the blog post said.

“Beyond the shared vision among our teams, we see tremendous potential in combining forces with Epic,” Tonic Games co-founder and chief games officer Paul Croft said. “Whether it’s about making our own games the best they can be or empowering other game developers to take their content from a kernel of an idea to commercial success, we know that together we will be able to reach greater heights.”

The official blog post on Tonic Games’ website mentions potential additions to Fall Guys thanks to the deal, including “count systems, cross-play, squad vs squad modes,” and more. “We’ve been mutual fans for a while and as we’ve gotten to know the Epic team better, it turns out we have a lot in common and share a lot of the same goals,” the post said.
