SQUARE ENIX MONTREAL, LUDIA GAMES AND GAMELOFT MONTREAL PARTNER FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY EVENT
Ludia Games, Gameloft Montreal and Square Enix have joined forces to create Next Lev’elles, a cross-studio virtual event celebrating women in the video game industry.
Next Lev’elles features speakers from all three studios. IGN reporter Rebekah Valentine will deliver the keynote address followed by a panel discussion featuring Square Enix composer and sound designer Kim Derome, Ludia Games technical artist Leslie Martin and Gameloft Montreal director of online security and infrastructure services Marianne Barousse. Eve Laurier, Edelman Montreal general manager, will moderate the panel. These women will share their success stories and challenges working in the gaming industry.
By hosting this event, the studios involved hope to encourage more women and girls to envision a career in video games. Though no additional events or programs have been announced, Next Lev’elles is just the start of a continuous collaboration between the three studios.
Tickets are available for $1, though donations to La Rue Des Femmes, an organization which cares for women who are homeless or on the cusp of homelessness, are encouraged.
The event will be held at 9 a.m. PT on March 8. Interested parties can register on Eventbrite. The program will also be bilingual, with English and French subtitles provided to participants during the presentation.
