‘POKEMON 25’ CELEBRATION ROLLS ON WITH NEW LIVESTREAM EVENT, POST MALONE COVER

With the Pokémon Day event fast approaching on Saturday, The Pokémon Company has announced new details on the celebration of the series’s 25th anniversary.

First comes Pokémon Presents, a 20-minute livestream presentation set to reveal news and updates from across the franchise. The presentation airs Friday at 7 a.m. PT across the official Pokémon YouTube and Twitch channels.

Grammy nominated singer Post Malone also released a new cover of Hootie and the Blowfish’s 1994 hit “Only Wanna Be With You,” dubed the “Pokémon 25 Version,” ahead of his concert on Saturday. The song was chosen by Malone, according to the official press release, because it “was last on the Billboard charts 25 years ago and Post recorded his version to help celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pokémon.”

The Pokémon Day virtual concert will air on the official Pokemon YouTube and Twitch channels on Saturday at 4 p.m. PT.

Finally, players who own Pokémon Sword and Shield can also download a free Pikachu that knows the attack Sing, a move it cannot learn on its own, using a special code. The code can be found in the weekly Pokémon newsletter, on Pokemon.com and on the official Pokémon social media channels.
