Esports organization Team Liquid has announced a partnership with IMC Trading, an electronic market maker based out of Amsterdam. The partnership marks Team Liquid’s first with a major financial brand.

“At Team Liquid, we look to align with partners that not only share similar values and a love for competitive gaming, but also challenge us to think differently about how we approach things,” said Victor Goossens, Team Liquid founder and CEO. “We’ll work closely with IMC … to elevate several priority programs across fan engagement, community relations and events production.

As part of the partnership, IMC Talent will provide judges, guest speakers and a contribution to the prize pool at Liquid Hacks. IMC will also introduce several segments, features and awards to Team Liquid StarLeague, one of the largest StarCraft competitions in the world.

“I’m personally excited for our ongoing TSL series, which [IMC] will help us bring to life this summer,” said Goossens.

Team Liquid, in turn, will support IMC’s platform Room to Read by providing original streaming events, talent integrations and financial contributions. All of Team Liquid’s competitive team jerseys will now feature the IMC logo as well.

“We are excited about the launch of our partnership with Team Liquid,” said Rob Defares, IMC CEO. “It’s great to find an organisation that shares many of our closely-held values of creativity, teamwork, ambition, innovation and competitive drive and we are very much looking forward to working with them to attract and foster new talent for our high performing teams.

A “good portion” of IMC employees are StarCraft fans, while over 50 percent identify as avid gamers and esports followers. One unnamed employee is a former pro gamer.

While both organizations thrive on competition, IMC Trading develops innovative technology and algorithms that enable high-frequency trading, engaging a core talent group which includes minds across science, technology, engineering, economics and mathematics.
