Ubisoft has pushed back the remake of 2003’s Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time from its planned March 18 launch to “a later date.”

The publisher made the delay official via Twitter on Friday morning: “We have made the decision to shift the release for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake to a later date.”

The statement also acknowledged the fan reaction to the remake, saying the “passion and support is driving our teams to make the best experience possible,” while noting that “this extra development time will enable our teams to deliver a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original.”

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time originally launched in November 2003 as a reboot of the dormant Prince of Persia franchise. Two sequels, Warrior Within and The Two Thrones, followed in December 2004 and December 2005 respectively.

No replacement date was set for the remake. Ubisoft declined VENN’s request for further comment.
