PEARL JAM FRONTMAN EDDIE VEDDER TO PERFORM LIVE AT 2020 GAME AWARDS

Eddie Vedder, lead singer of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band Pearl Jam, has been tapped to perform at The Game Awards on Dec. 10.

Vedder recently released two new solo tracks last week, while, earlier this year, Pearl Jam debuted their 11th studio album, Gigaton, in March.

Vedder and his band have had a brief, albeit storied history within the world of gaming. In 2009, Pearl Jam collaborated with Harmonix’s Rock Band 2 to bring their 1991 album Ten to the game’s store and in March, the band released Quick Escape, an arcade game in which fans play as a member of the band and battle space invaders, all set to the tune of the Pearl Jam single of the same name off of Gigaton.

Most recently, Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part II used Pearl Jam’s “Future Days” as a throughline in protagonist Ellie’s narrative. The Last of Us Part II has 10 nominations at this year’s Game Awards, including game of the year.

Past musical performances for the Game Awards include Green Day, Grimes and Chvrches, as well as orchestral renditions of music from nominated games led by composer Hans Zimmer.

The Game Awards air live across multiple platforms on Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. PT.
