‘RED DEAD ONLINE’ TO LAUNCH AS STANDALONE GAME

Rockstar Games is looking to round up some more outlaws as Red Dead Online, the online multiplayer component of the studio’s hit Red Dead Redemption 2, will be available to purchase as a standalone game on Dec. 1.

For the first time, players who don’t already own Red Dead Redemption 2 will be able to log into the online portion of the Western adventure and forge their own path.

This isn’t the first time Rockstar Games has made such a decision. In June, the company announced Grand Theft Auto Online would be available as a standalone game in the new year.

Alongside the standalone announcement, Rockstar also unveiled new details on the latest Bounty Hunter expansion for Red Dead Online. The game offers five unique specialist roles players can choose from: Bounty Hunter, Naturalist, Trader and Moonshiner.

The newest update features a bounty hunter expansion. The bounty hunter role will be enhanced with new criminals to track, new prestigious equipment and new skills to unlock across 10 additional bounty hunter ranks. As an added bonus, all bounty hunter missions in Read Dead Online are awarding double XP.

Red Dead Online will be available through the PlayStation and Microsoft stores for next-gen consoles (PS4 and Xbox One versions will be backwards compatible on new systems), as well as on the Rockstar Game Launcher, Epic Games Store and Steam for PC. The standalone game is being offered $4.99 through Feb. 15.
